The gift of the ancient forest mother
04/15/2022
What a gift to discover this podcast! Tears and chills as Madame Pamita intones the many names of Baba Yaga, ancient forest mother. I’ve already learned so much from listening & I’m hearing my ancestors whispering from just beyond to go to the forest and leave an offering, speak to the trees and burn juniper for these ways remembered.
Great content but extremely lacking source material

I’m not saying this podcast generalizes all Slavic culture but the host doesn’t reference much for their research or materials so it’s hard to tell the source culture or tradition. Entertaining content but I can’t really do much with this lack of references or even first hand accounts.

I have now listened to several episodes, and I would like to make some (hopefully at least somewhat) helpful comments. First, I am a huge fan of creators promoting a way listeners can find their other content and help support them. But self-promo should not be 1/3 of the content. Please do not refer to your own book every chance you get. You once briefly mentioned "really really hard times researching" but never refer to the resources you used! Please refer to your sources! Second, lectures without stories and personal anecdotes are boring. We slavs have so many great stories. And as a practicing witch with supposedly enough experience for a book, you must have so many personal anecdotes! Share them! Are you a member of some pagan communities? Tell us about them! Bring your teachers or co-practitioners on as guests!
A much needed podcast!

Love this podcast

I’m so glad that Madame Pamita started this podcast because there aren’t a lot of podcasts about Slavic folklore. The episodes are really interesting and I’ve learned a lot from them. I appreciate that she also lists what other Slavic countries call the different spirits. My ancestry is Polish so I find this helpful and it makes it more relatable for me. Thank you Madame Pamita for sharing your knowledge with us.
